My experience with McHale’s, Megan Foltz and the entire event staff that serviced our reception went above and beyond all expectation. The planning process for us was the most difficult to clearly envision. We had lots of questions and Melinda (Mathis) was there for us, each time offering assistance and suggestions to help allay our insecurities. She was very knowledgeable, as well as personable throughout the process. (Regarding the event) Wow! The entire wait staff was wonderfully attentive and conscientious! Kaitlyn was amazingly accommodating! The food got raves from everyone (which is no small feat with a group of 200) and the venue was gorgeous. We had people coming up to us all night commenting on such a remarkable reception! We were very proud to have our daughter’s reception at The Florentine!

We wanted to express our grateful appreciation for the outstanding reception we experienced on July 10th for our daughter and new son-in-law’s wedding!! The Grand looked spectacular, the staff was amazing and our guests had a wonderful time. The diligent planning that we had done with Melinda Mathis all winter paid off in dividends! Melinda was extremely professional, always answering my phone calls or emails in a timely manner, as well as offering solutions to the dilemmas we may have been discussing. She was very pleasant and was truly excited and engaged in planning our wedding reception. It was always convenient for her to meet with us, and she always made us feel like our event was of utmost importance. We appreciated her expertise, energy and enthusiasm greatly!
On the evening of the reception, Millie was unbelievable! She had things orchestrated to perfection and had anticipated our needs, even before we thought of them! It was a relief to know that the entire staff at The Grand that evening was well informed about what was to happen, and were all working toward the same goal – and it showed!! The bartenders were very pleasant and cordial to us, as well as our guests and we appreciated that. We did not meet the fellow who was in charge of dishwashing that evening, but we can say that all of the glasses were sparkling and we appreciated his efforts on our behalf as well.
Our daughter, Beth had a vision in her mind when we first walked into The Grand, and we can honestly say that her dream wedding came true! She appreciated the unique character of The Grand, with its woodwork, color scheme, beautiful windows and multi-floor arrangement to seat guests. Everything came together beautifully, and we will be forever grateful for the part The Grand played at a very special time in the life of our family. Melinda was extremely nice and helpful, answered all our questions and was always very quick to respond. My details meeting was with Melinda and she really impressed me. The Marquise was hands-down the best option for us based on what we were going to get for our money. Sarah was very professional, helpful, and she was able to answer all of our questions very clearly. Sarah really did go above and beyond to meet the needs of our event. If she was not going to be available for me, she always made sure I had contact information for someone who would be. She was very patient and flexible with finalizing plans as well. My guests could not say enough about the quality of our event. The staff was extremely professional and polite to all of our guests, and the food was amazing. Our parents were very pleased with the overall value.

I was really impressed with the initial meeting. Sarah explained things clearly. She laid out the details and the cost of the reception so I knew exactly what to expect. Sarah was very helpful. I have never planned a wedding and was very thankful that Sarah took the time to explain our options. She had great suggestions and made the planning process much easier for me. I very much appreciated that Sarah called all the vendors to set up delivery time. It saved me a lot of time and one more thing I could mark off my list to do. I also liked that when the wedding party, and my husband and I arrived the event manager was there to greet us and tell us he was taking care of us for the evening. THANKS!!! I received many compliments about the food. Many people told me it was the best food that they have had at a wedding. I was very pleased and stress free when I arrived at the reception. I could immediately tell that the Marquise staff was taking care of the guests before I arrived and that I could enjoy my evening. Sarah McHale was really easy to work with and highly responsive. I appreciate how quickly Sarah was able to book us and work with us according to our special needs. Megan was absolutely wonderful to work with. She had a great personality that made it easy to work with her. Mr. McHale, I booked my wedding with Melinda Mathis at The Grand over 11 months ago. My wedding was Saturday, June 12, 2010. I had to take the time to tell you what an amazing group of people that you have in your organization. Melinda was incredible from the beginning. She showed me around, told me different opportunities within The Grand, and even some other locations that McHale's had to offer. We finally went with The Grand because it was so spectacular and I really wanted to work with Melinda. She always made me feel that she was at my service, willing to help in any way, and always happy to do so. During this long 14 month process I have not come across another person like her. She truly enjoys what she does and is impeccable at doing so. She is a true pleasure to work with. All of her emails, phone calls and details leading up to the big day help to put my fears of disaster, that are always in a bride's head, at ease. A few days before the big day I went to The Grand and met Millie and Tiffany when I dropped off all of my miscellaneous items like favors, etc. Both of them were so welcoming and friendly. They seemed genuinely excited to be working my wedding. Millie even gave me her cell phone number in case I needed to drop off anything else or had questions. On the big day everything was UNBELIEVABLE, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, AWESOME!!! It was so worry free and care free for me that I didn't stress or have to think about anything except having a great time. Millie and Tiffany were so great with Scott and I but also with our guests. I had several people share stories of their over the top service like taking my nephew to the buffet line to get food, they served apple juice to the kids for the champagne toast, and also helping my father in-law (that is in a wheelchair) through the buffet and to his car, just to name a few. If there was anything negative it would only be that the chicken we picked was very spicy and I don't remember it being that way during the tasting. Also, that they did not move the seating board down to the main floor after the cocktail hour. But I got rave reviews about the chicken and I did hear that The Grand workers were walking around with papers helping guests find their seats since the board was left upstairs. I never had a glass that was empty, or a moment without a smile on my face. The Grand looked absolutely spectacular. The whole scene was exactly as I pictured it and sometimes so much more beautiful in person. It was an incredibly amazing night for Scott and I, we were so pleased with everything. I don't know how people are able to do this kind of big event in their lives without incredible people like Melinda, Tiffany, Millie and the whole staff at The Grand. I cannot say enough nice things!! What an amazing group of people that you get to work with on a daily basis!! Thank you for your time, Jennie.

My only recommendations would be to have the Hall/Event Managers wear name tags. I found in the flurry of the evening, I couldn’t remember their names. It would be helpful so I could ask for them by name. Otherwise, terrific event! I loved how attentive everyone was to me, Dave, the wedding party and parents. It makes the event extra special when the little things are done – food at the end of the evening to take home, drinks when you arrive, etc. We also appreciated that Melinda allowed us to make our centerpieces in the empty room on the 5th floor. This saved us TONS of money and we were so grateful! It is nice things like this that make me want to recommend The Grand and McHale’s for any of my friend’s events!

Megan Foltz was my wedding planner and she was there every step of the way. She would listen to my ideas, she would send reminder notices, and she helped me make important decisions when I needed advice. She met me several times to go over things. I had an idea about doing Kentucky Hot Browns for an appetizer and she got with the cooks and made it happen! She made my wedding run very smoothly and I believe went above and beyond her duties. She made sure that every detail was taken care of so I didn’t have to worry. Every time we had a meeting with her she was so pleasant and happy to see us. She made my mom and I feel so special during this exciting time. Megan would always ask how other things are going, invitations, my wedding dress, and etc. I had issues with my wedding dress being ordered wrong and she would always listen to me and reassure me that I didn’t need to worry about the reception and I could focus on the wedding dress crisis. Megan Foltz was just so amazing and when I tell my other friends who are married they can’t believe all the things she did for us. They always say they wish they had a Megan. Also when I got back from my honeymoon I had a handwritten letter from her thanking me and hoping I had a great time on my honeymoon! I also want to tell you about Millie Woolwine. What a great person she is!! I met her when I went down to The Grand the Friday before and she was such a happy person. I left that afternoon feeling like I have known her for my whole life. She was genuinely happy for me and wanted to make sure that whatever I wanted I got. She went through the whole night with me and went over ever detail. Millie even gave me her phone number incase I needed to get a hold of her the day of, now that is above and beyond in my book! The other reception servers were awesome, if I asked them for more Champagne; I had a new glass in my hand within a minute, now that’s service!!! All of my guests were wowed by the service they got at the Grand, it made them feel so special which made me VERY HAPPY!!! During my wedding reception I was so blessed to have my wedding run perfect and I owe it to your company and staff. I can’t tell you enough how much your staff made my fairytale come true!! Amy Brewer was great to work with and calmed my anxieties! Last minute questions and requests were addressed as smoothly as the initial ones. John greeted me the moment I arrived and went above and beyond … Phyllis took great care of us and went out of her way to make sure I had what I needed and things were going as we wished. My initial apprehension about being in the downstairs room was quickly quelled. The room looked very nice and the service was great! We also worried about parking with two events at the facility but, as promised, it was not a problem and the staff made an effort to accommodate our elderly and handicapped guests.

Sarah got in touch with us quickly every time we had questions. She also met with us multiple times before the event. She allowed my parents to attend an additional tasting because we were from out of town. That was wonderful because we actually went with food from the larger tasting. The contract showing all the information and room layout was a big item to me. I read through everything on the pages and knew what I needed to do to make sure everything was covered. This was excellent. If you read the contract and items listed then you knew what was expected. The presentation of the food was great. I liked the carver for the meat. I don not like meat presented in a buffet pan and this added a special touch to the meal. It makes the meat look fresh. I would have no doubts having McHale’s (again). I received so many compliments from everyone. They thought that everything flowed nicely and there was not a lot of down time. Everything kept moving. People liked having the wedding and reception in one place.

Since we planned the wedding in about seven months, we had to make big decisions quickly and the amenities of The Gardens helped us make a quick decision. Of all the vendors I worked with in planning the wedding, McHale’s was by far the easiest. Most vendors had a list of things that I needed to do for THEM, but McHale’s had a list of the things that THEY were going to do for ME. Many of our family members and the bridal party commented on how the staff was extremely helpful with those involved in the wedding … always asking if there was anything the bridal party (including myself, the bride!) needed. We were just more than happy with everything about the reception. The room looked beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was exceptional.

Dear McHale’s staff: I am not sure I can adequately express my gratitude for the outstanding job you did for us at our daughter’s wedding on October 24th. The entire day I felt so pressured to make sure everything was going well; at the church, at the small, informal reception afterward and everything in between. As soon as I got to The Gardens, however, everything was taken out of my hands and put into the extremely capable hands of that evening’s staff. There is nothing I would have done differently for the reception and that is a great thing to be able to say after the day you planned for a year finally comes and goes. McHale’s staff was very accommodating-allowed use to hold the room for 24 hours before signing a contract. As my mom said, The Gardens Vista Room is the best kept secret for receptions. The service was unbelievable (Bride and Groom’s plates were carried to the table as well as grandparents, very nice touch). The food was delicious-tastings did not do a justice for how good the food was. I would highly recommend this hall (and Megan) to anyone I know. I was SO thrilled with the entire event. Thank you for EVERYTHING Megan. The day was 100% perfect.

The initial call was not place to McHale’s, but was a transfer from Elegance. Jenny performed admirably under the somewhat adverse conditions of the situation. McHale’s is a very well run organization. I will be using McHale’s for both of my daughters’ weddings in the future. - Jim.

We met with Sarah and Megan during our booking process and both were incredibly helpful. They were willing to meet with us at any time (even New Years Eve before the Marquise event!) and help us with everything we needed while we decided on our venue. They never made us feel like we were asking too many questions or taking up too much of their time. Megan was incredible - I can't say enough good things. She responded to all my calls and emails very quickly, always offering to take anything off my plate if I needed help. She coordinated everything so well, gave us guidance as we made our decisions and made this process even more exciting and fun than we had expected. Everyone had the time of their lives - I have never seen a wedding run so smoothly before. I was blown away by Millie and all of the servers - they kept everything on track and made sure all the bridal party and immediate family were taken care of. They even went through the buffet line with parents of small children, helping get plates for the kids and then helping cut the kid's meat and make the evening as hassle-free for the parents as possible.Those efforts were so much appreciated. We received the nicest compliments on the quality of the food, the service and the look of the room. Everything exceeded our expectations. We really can't thank Megan, Chuck, Millie and everyone enough for everything. I never would have thought this process could be so easy and the evening could run so smoothly. We appreciate everyone's help - we were thrilled to have the bar open longer and keep the dance floor going for a few more songs. It really meant so much to us and our guests. Thanks for going above and beyond - it really made the difference for us!
